2010 Marathon

Went out last Sunday to shoot the 2010 Pittsburgh marathon for dicks sporting goods. was a great time, though a bit rainy for the majority of the day. Equipped with a camera in a ziplock bag and a good friend with an sb-600 on a boom pole (also in a bag) we ran all over trying to get some unique action shots. Ended up getting some cool stuff, check it out!

City Paper – Black and Gold Magazine

hey there,

wrapped up the shoot(s) for the City Paper Black and Gold magazine and things are looking really good. worked with a lot of talented folks to put this together and had a great time shooting it. most of the photography was shot on white but we did go and shoot on the roof for some cover images, which was by far my favorite part. Go check it out!

check it out!

Ballet

did some black and white candid shots of some ballet dancers yesterday. was pretty cool and really lucked out on some window light that was kicking into the space. the result, super contrasty black and white awesomeness. take a look.

City Paper Shoot

hey there,

did a few shots for city paper yesterday, one at ikea in robinson and one at crazy mocha in shadyside.

must say that the folks at each location were awesome to deal with, jenn strang from over at ikea kicked butt with giving us an awesome set to shoot on and the folks at crazy mocha not only made kick ass coffee but also participated in our shoot.

overall things turned out well, the lighting stayed pretty simple by bouncing between softbox and grid spot combos. used a lot of bounced light for the shot at ikea to try and emulate more of a “daylight feel” and to make it look like an actual apartment and not a set in ikea. lots of fun though!

PA Hypnosis Shoot

hey there,

went out to PA Hypnosis to do a shoot involving patients that have been helped by the treatment as well as a new chair involved in treating patients. i had been involved in a shoot here last year with dan vitchoff for pittsburgh professional magazine. everything went super smooth that time and this time things worked out just as smooth after ironing out some hiccups in lighting and the background/set we were shooting on.

the lighting setup was simple softbox close to the subject and a loose light bounced up into the ceiling/wall to give a little overall fill and to even out the light on the background.
